Like most kids his age Aaron Carter likes video games, movies, and racing dirt bikes. However, though Aaron may have the usual tastes for a twelve-year-old boy, there is one thing about him that separates him from the rest of the prepubescent pack: while most guys his age haven't given a second though to a future career, Aaron has already embarked on his. In other words, although Aaron is a normal adolescent who collects baseball cards and fights with his twin sister Angel to see who gets the shower first, there are a few things about him that you might not know.
For starters, he holds the record for being the youngest singer (usurping Jimmy Osmond of the honor) to have four consecutive top ten singles in England, he's opened for the Backstreet Boys, he performed on Nickelodeon's 'All That Tour,' and in just a few years he has established himself as a major international recording star.
Fortunate enough to have the privilege of watching his older brother Nick's meteoric rise to fame with the Backstreet Boys, Aaron was a diligent understudy to his brother, quietly taking notes and learning how to handle life under the spotlight. "I knew for sure that I wanted to be in the business when my brother first joined the Backstreet Boys six years ago," Aaron recalls. "I went to all of his rehearsals, and I would always go home and practice all the dance steps I saw. Plus Nick always gave me advice about being in the public eye--he's taught me to not be big-headed and to stay down to earth."
2000 was Aaron's breakthrough year. He release his smash album Aaron's Party (Come Get It), and a tremendously successful single and video of the same name. He opened for Britney Spears on the U.S. leg of her 2000 world tour, and he was also the subject of a biography written by his Mom. Aaron also moved back to Florida (to the Florida Keys) and made numerous hugely popular and successful appearances on Disney, Nickelodeon, Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, and Rosie O'Donnell.
2001 has been a smash hit already! Aaron has already garnered the Favorite Rising Star award at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards. He also received rave reviews for his performances as Jojo the Who in the Broadway hit musical, Seussical the Musical. His multiplatinum album peaked at number 4 on the Billboard charts, while he was also ranked at number 52 on Rolling Stone's Hot 100 Artists.
Has all the fame and fortune changed young Aaron? Naah. He's the same loveable kid he's always been. Asked what makes him the most happy, Aaron responds gleefully "Making my fans and family happy, and having fun!" And he's doing a great job at all three!
