Okay, since we've stolen the key's to the city i guess it's time to personalize this little biography of ours....Once upon a time, in a small country next to England (that would be Wales by the way.) there were five avarege young boys. Now, these boys came from all over the South Wales area, Gilfach Goch (a real mouthful, try not to spit when attempting pronounceation), Porth, Hirwaun, Maesteg and Rhydfelin. Now, to be honest with you, there's nothing much to do in these towns but to play and write music and start a band or work in your local factory. Not content with letting their respective dreams die, these five young men got together through a slew of amazing friends (kind of like Spiderman and his amazing buddies if you like) in order to write the kind of music that they could feel passionate about, and put a smile on their faces with. This was their dream, to record and play for people who actually liked their songs. Eventually, through some friends they recorded their first demo 'Between Order and Model' this was a cool experience and the boys got to hear what their noise sounded like outside of a practice space. It sounded good, so good infact that Mighty Atom Records wanted to release it, they boys huddled together and accepted. From there, all hell broke loose. The EP was well recieved across the board, labels began stalking them and offering them the world by coaxing them with little bags of Haribo sweets. The boys liked those sweets and signed to Atlantic Records. They then recorded an EP called 'Four Ways to Scream Your Name' and then their first full-length record 'Casually Dressed and Deep In Conversation', the boys were proud of their achievement and even more surprised at the growing love from people they had played too while venturing out on tour in the UK/Europe and the USA with such great bands (Boysetsfire, The Juliana Theory, Instruction, Lost Prophets, Coheed and Cambria, From Autumn To Ashes, Finch, The Used, Franz Ferdinand, The Von Bondies, Further Seems Forever, Hondo Maclean, Taking Back Sunday, Atreyu, No Warning, Autopilot Off, Million Dead, The Break, A Thorn for Every Heart, Less Than Jake....the list is extensive!)
But now is a new chapter in the life of Funeral For A Friend, currently holed up in a really cool studio in America's Pacific North West (Seattle) with the awesome Terry 'Fake Meat Loving' Date (Pantera, Deftones, Handsome, Dredg, Sir Mixalot, A, Prong, Heart etc) these five boys from South Wales are now working hard to the follow up to Casuallly Dressed, a rock onslaught that will make you sit up and take note.
